Before watched this G.I Joe 2, guess what? I haven't watched the first G.I Joe. I understand the story without having to watch the first G.I Joe. This movie is absolutely entertaining especially all the over-the-top action scenes.

a brief storyline

In this sequel, G.I Joe of course must fight their mortal enemy, Cobra. Fake President (Zartan from Cobra) causes G.I Joes to get ambushed. Unfortunately, there are only 3 Joes left, Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson), Lady Jaye (Adrienne Palicki) and Flint (DJ Cotrona). Things are going worse because Storm Shadow (Lee Byung Hun) and Firefly (Ray Stevenson) rescued Cobra Commander. Fake President (also Cobra Commander) wants to launch nuclear missils in order to cause world chaotic. While Joes recruits another member, General Joe Colton (Bruce Willis), Storm Shadow with Jinx and Snake Eyes kindly help Joes to defeat the Fake President.

a fair review

(*maybe contains spoiler) Truthfully, I had a good time with this movie because of its amazing action scenes. Gun-shooting scenes, sword scenes between Snake Eye and Storm Shadow, flying around steep cliffs are all satisfying my visual entertainment.

Fyi, before I review this, I have watched the first G.I. Joe (noted). For whoever watched first G.I Joe, I think they will feel disappointment due to this second movie. How come? All techy-geek weapons in first G.I Joe are all gone. You just see guns, weapons, swords, big biceps, and pretty girls :D

I think Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock is really owning this movie. So does Adrienne Palicki as Lady Jaye. Good thing is, they acts well along with DJ Cotrona as Flint. Sometimes, I miss Channing Tatum as Duke. He died and just showed around 15 minutes I think. Forget anyway, there's still my favourite character : Storm Shadow. I think just him and Snake Eye who are the permanent characters since first G.I Joe.

Not in a rush to watch this movie in 3D, 2D is very okay. The first G.I Joe is better than this second installment, eventhough the first G.I Joe isn't as good as another action movie. I am also not an action die-hard fans, so what I can tell is just "I enjoyed watching G.I Joe Retaliation without the need of watching first G.I Joe".

Roadblock : In the immortal words of Jay-Z: "Whatever deity may guide my life, Dear Lord don't let me die tonight!"

a brief storyline

This is a story about caveman's family names Croods that has survived by being careful and staying in their cave at night. Grug (Nicolas Cage) as a father always reminds his family to stay wary, while Eep (Emma Stone) as her daughter always love discovering new things.Until, there are erruption and downfalls in the area where they live. So, The Croods must go through another journey in search of a new home. Fortunately, Guy (Ryan Reynolds), the modern man who Eep meets is willing to help The Croods to follow the sun and search a goal that called tomorrow.

Eep: "My name's Eep and this is my family, the Croods. We never had the chance to explore
the outside world because of my dad's one rule: Never leave the cave.We never had a chance to explore the outside world, but what we didn't know was that our world was about to change."

a fair review

I always love animation movie. That's not mean I'm childish, right? Sometimes, animation movie like this always gives us more moral to learn. That's what I like.

So, this animation is brilliant. Looks at the variety of the creatures, they are so different. After that, the green land with so many colorful animals and plants are covering the big screen. Feels like in the fresh forest. I can feel how this movie brings me into their imagination land.

The characters of each family member 'The Croods' are superb. Grug, the father, however like some conservative parents who wants to keep everybody safe at home. He doesn't know how to face the rebellion teenager like Eep. Eep is just like who we are : want to know everything new, want to discover the world and want to grow. Until Eep meets Guy, I think this is when a spark feeling called love was exist. How a girl admire a boy and vice versa. Guy is so modern man. He can invent many things to survive. Essentially, I like a man who knows how to survive with brain, like Guy :D

Then, there she is, mother Ugga who still respect his husband but also give him direction. She is so wise and so mother. Thunk, the goofy boy but obedient while Sandy, the animalistic and wild baby : They are the complete family with a granny. I remember the first scene about breakfast-hunting, ohh, that's such a sweet family who knows each other role.

Overall, I love The Croods. I don't recommend you to watch in 3D, just watch in 2D. The Croods isn't about a prehistoric family but also delivers a sweet message about family and how new things can change our life. This is another film which everyone can watch from younger child until adult. First ever animation movie this year that is so sweet. Pure magic from DreamWorks. This is just my opinion who love watching animation movie, FYI :D

Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a flirty carnaval magician, is hurled away to Land of Oz. Then he meets two witches sister, Theodora (Mila Kunis) - Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and a good witch, Glinda (Michelle Williams). According to a great prophecy, Oz is a wizard who can help Land of Oz get back its peacefulness city. He's the wizard that everyone's been expecting. Evanora offers him tons of coin and throne as long as he can defeat the witch. Oz doesn't know that the witch he must kill is Glinda, which is the good ones. Will Oz help Glinda or Evanora?

The story begins with black and white scenes which strengthen the oldies plot of Kansas past years. Then, it slowly changes into deep colorful of flora and fauna in the land of Oz. Disney is doing a good production in CGI and 3-D effects parts. When Oscar arrives in Oz, everything is so wonderful like magical world. Marvelous CGI & 3-D effects, but sometimes they are too much colour. The setting looks similar like Alice in Wonderland.

Oscar : Kansas is full of good men. I don’t want to be a good man. I want to be a great one.

James Franco plays a flirty magician who has big dream about becoming the great one. I think he did a good job portrays Oz. I just don't like his smirk smiles, hahaha. Mila Kunis who acts as Theodora also did a great job. Her performance as a wicked witch with Rachel Weisz is quite good. While Mila Kunis is very seductive ( because of her sexy boobs, ups ), Rachel Weisz is very freaky ambitious. I like them. Last, Michelle Williams as Glinda The Good is very brightly and shiny. She fits the role perfectly as the queen. The dresses help the character's tone of Evanora and Glinda so much.

While on the road to save Land of Oz, Oscar meets up some new friends, like the winged monkey, Finley, and China girl which is made from porcelain. I like these character so much, the monkey is funny while china girl is so childish. Oh, besides them, there are also flying baboons which are so scary. Ah, I'm enjoying so much this movie with its graphic detail.

This movie is very serviceable to younger audience than older audience. I recommend you to watch this movie in 3D. It's very worth because you can see how the images pop-up nicely. I enjoyed traveling Land of Oz, it's very memorable because of its digital graphic, but sometimes it's too much colorful. A wonderful travelling to Land of Oz, but not so great and powerful.
